App Permissions

Why we request each permission, and which are optional.

The Gorebet app requests the following system permissions. None are used for advertising. None are shared with third parties.

When you install or use the Gorebet app, Android or iOS may ask your permission for the following features. Here is why each permission is needed and whether you can skip it.

Precise location

Android and iOS

Optional
Why we need it

To pin your incident report to an accurate location on the map. You can also set the location manually by tapping the map — GPS is not required.

When asked

When you start a new report and have not set the location manually.

Approximate location

Android and iOS

Required for map features
Why we need it

To show you incident reports from your neighborhood and determine which neighborhood feeds to display.

When asked

When you first open the map or neighborhood feed.

Attach a photo

Android and iOS

Optional — no permission required
Why we need it

To attach an existing photo from your device to an incident report. The app uses the system Photo Picker — a sandboxed picker that runs outside the app and only returns the specific photos you select. The app never gets access to your full photo library, and we do not request the broad 'Photos & media' or 'Camera' permissions on Android.

When asked

When you tap 'Add photo' in a report. The system Photo Picker opens; only the photos you tap are passed to the app.

Microphone

Android and iOS

Optional
Why we need it

To record a voice report when you choose the 'Voice report' option. The recording is stored on your device until you submit it, then uploaded to Gorebet servers as evidence. Voice reports are always optional.

When asked

Only when you start a voice report and tap the microphone button.

Notifications

Android and iOS

Optional
Why we need it

To send you alerts about incidents in your neighborhood, updates on reports you submitted, and urgent safety notices.

When asked

On first launch or when you enable notifications in Settings.

No advertising permissions

Gorebet does not display advertising. The Android advertising ID (Ad ID) permission is explicitly disabled. The iOS advertising identifier (IDFA) is not requested. We do not share your data with advertising networks.

How to change or revoke permissions
